Japanese brewery-distillery Meiri Shurui has been a saké brewer since the Edo period, making fine saké for over 160 years. Operating as Meiri Shurui Co Ltd since 1950, they have diversified, producing not only saké, shochu, liqueurs (plum wine, etc.), fermented seasonings, and other distillates including gin. In 2017, they launched their first gin with the relaease of their signature Wa Gin.

Wa Gin is a premium ‘Japanese styled gin’.

Uniquely made with the base spirit distilled from saké, it’s aged ten years and then distilled with seven botanicals including woody notes, spicy juniper berries, cinnamon, citrus fruits and aromatic fragrances before finally being bottled.

The end result is a smooth, velvety finish that’s a delight to the palate, making Wa Gin the perfect base for elegant cocktails.

Serving suggestions:

• Absolutely superb neat or over ice  
• In a G&T, we’d suggest a neutral tonic such a Capi Dry - with a lower ration such as 2:1 or 2.5:1
• Cocktails: Meiri Shurui recomends to try in a martini and gimlet

About Meiri Shurui Co. Ltd: Meiri Shurui has been a saké brewer since the Edo period, making fine saké for over 160 years. Initally founded as Kato Sake Brewery, Meiri Shurui have since diversified to become a general liquor manufacturer, producing not only saké, shochu, liqueurs (plum wine, etc.), fermented seasonings and and other distillates. 

In 2017, they started manufacturing and selling gin and their signature Wa Gin was first released.

Meiri Shurui operatres from Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the coast to the north-east of Tokyo.
